Hello. My name is David. I am the author of this site. I come from Mississippi and have done some time. I felt at the end of my sentence that it was about time someone talked about the positive aspect of prison as we always hear about the negative side of prison. Throughout my whole sentence I saw where prisons were being built because the cime rate was going up. I saw where school progams and government progams were being cut. Of course some of the prison progams were cut as they said that thee was no way to keep them and cut everything else so that the public would have something to fuss about, which is completely undestandable..

 

A friend and I were at forest camp, one of the progams I will mention, and I told him about my idea to come up with the site. As a good friend he read and critiqued what I had written. He said it was a good idea. So I started compiling my experience on paper and finally decided how I wanted to appoach it....

 

This from a man that did 12 years. While incarcerated I did a lot of programming and not just what they wanted me to do as part of my sentence.  I did some classes to deal with my anger as I did have a violent cime that I feel bad about to this day. But while in these classes I opned my mind to what they were teaching and did not just go through the classes to get earned time.....

 

There are some people that do go through the motions. However, what about the ones that do not just go through the motions and sincerely take in what they ae being taught? What about the ones that get the prison job and decide that they want to know everything about it even though they may be forced to take the job..... This is what I will be looking at tin this site as i feel that these are issues that the public knows nothing about. These ae things that help people grow into better individuals.

 

I want people to at least have the option of knowing that there are progams in prison that are like this. Some convicts do not want to just be warehoused while doing their time. Some actually want to get in the system and whether they know it or not, find out what made them do what they did and change that..... These progams are what help them in doing that.....
